Ooofta!

Here is my catch up list from the last few weeks...

  • Princess Squirrel turned 7. It snowed on her birthday and she was sad because she wanted to spend the day at school as the "birthday girl". Her Grammy and Papa were in town for the big day, and we had a nice visit with them. We celebrated by going to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, and then to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. (She wanted to sit on the saddle and say YeHA!

  • The next day we had her party at the Clay Cafe in the Great Mall. The girls had a good time painting pottery. I would also like to add at this time that I am NEVER going to eat at a food court in the mall with my children again!

  • Before her birthday our friends', Brazilian Mama and the Fox, house flooded. They lost a lot of stuff and had to find a new place to live. That new place, at the moment, is my place. Princess Squirrel now has two new sisters and is loving it. So far it's going well, but we haven't tackled a Sunday morning yet. That should be interesting. They are only planning on staying with us for a short time, but I think the kids will be sad when they are gone. (And I'll miss the help getting the kids off to school!) We are trying to come up with a twelve days of Christmas song about our crazy house. It will invole 5 crazy children, 2 tadpoles, one bichon frize (and a beagle too), plus the cat and the 5 adults all living in my home. It's a work in progress. Anyone have an extra refrigerator? We could definitely use one. :)

  • I finished Anatomy and Physiology. Next semester will be Microbiology and then I am done with prereqs. I am now filling out the paperwork to apply to nursing school. If I get in I will start the program in the Fall. Entirely too scary.

  • Frogger had surgery the day of my final. He had his adenoids removed and tubes put in his ears. The main reason for the surgery was that he has a ridiculous amount of ear wax. His ear was so clogged that they couldn't safely get the wax out without putting him under. He is like a new child now. In one day he began speaking more clearly. It's sad to see how much his hearing was affecting his speech. He's also just much happier because we can understand him. (He also LOVES having the Fox crew around!)

Okay, this is starting to sound like one of those long Christmas card letters, so I'm going to stop. Later I might blog about my crazy Christmas tree...maybe that can be in my song....

The Plague

Thursday night I came home from school and settled in to watch ER. At the very end of it I heard my youngest crying. He never cries after we put him to bed. Going to bed is typically the only thing he does that we want him to do. So, I went upstairs to see what all of the fuss was about, and when I opened the door- I knew. He had the flu.

Magrelo and I have a very set routine when it comes to vomit. I take the child and bathe them, he cleans up the mess. This is how it has always been, and it is one of the many reasons that I love my husband. So after my munchkin was bathed and dressed, we went to bed. (If the kids are sick, they sleep with us so that we will be able to provide a trash can, etc...) I'll spare you the details, but it was a LONG night. My mom, who lives with me, was also throwing up all night downstairs. The next night was Friday, mom still sick, Frogger better. Saturday night, Magrelo's turn (oh and Princess Squirrel now has croup!) Sunday, free night again. Monday, the Monkey began his turn at 1:30am. Another long night. So, tonight should be good and tomorrow maybe Squirrel? Her birthday is Friday. I really want her to be well by Friday.

Okay, I'm sure this wasn't a fun blog to read. I'd try to add something witty, but I have to go wash more sheets. YECHHHHHHHH!
